Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) consistently implements the principles of sustainable development and ESG (responsibility in the environmental and social spheres, as well as in the field of corporate governance). 
The adoption of these principles reflects KBTU's commitment to contributing to a sustainable future, ensuring transparency, inclusiveness, and a responsible attitude towards the environment and society.


To demonstrate its commitment to the ESG agenda, KBTU has developed a number of key policies, including:


•    Policy on the implementation of the principles of sustainable development and ESG, which form the long-term guidelines and goals of the university in the field of ecology, social responsibility and management;
•    A policy to support research in the field of sustainable development and ESG, which contributes to the formation of an effective system for developing scientific potential, interdisciplinary cooperation and implementing innovative ESG solutions;
•    Sustainable procurement policies that ensure the selection of suppliers and contractors based on environmental and social criteria;
•    A sustainable investment policy aimed at integrating ESG factors into investment decision-making processes;
•    A diversity and inclusion policy that guarantees equal opportunities and respect for individual differences of students and staff;
•    A policy on access to education, which recognizes the commitment to the principles of equal access to quality education for all students, regardless of their physical, social, economic or other characteristics;
•    A health and wellbeing policy aimed at creating conditions that promote a healthy lifestyle, mental health and social integration, as well as preventing factors that negatively impact the wellbeing of every individual;
•    A policy on public participation aimed at strengthening the University's ties with society through educational, scientific and social initiatives, as well as involving students and staff in solving current public problems;
•    Policies against forced labor, modern slavery, human trafficking and child labor, aimed at preventing, identifying and eliminating all forms of exploitation, as well as ensuring transparency and accountability in all processes related to employment, training and cooperation with third parties;
•    Policy on minimization, sorting and processing of waste and its composting, aimed at creating a sustainable ecological environment on the territory of the University through waste management;
•    A policy on sustainable water management aimed at optimizing water consumption through the introduction of water-saving technologies, improving the efficiency of water resources management, and creating an ecological culture among students and employees;
•    Policies in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy use aimed at reducing energy consumption through the introduction of energy-efficient technologies, increasing the share of renewable energy sources in the University's energy mix, minimizing the carbon footprint and contributing to the fight against climate change;
•    Sustainable transport infrastructure policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, supporting the use of low-emission vehicles, developing a pedestrian and bicycle network, and improving the accessibility and efficiency of modern transport solutions.
