78 students took part in the KBTU’s annual Technical English Olympiad on March 31^st, 2012, despite the just completed stressful mid-terms and the long awaited Saturday. The participants were mostly driven by a desire to be selected as the top English speaking students to represent KBTU at the International Internet Technical English Olympiad with its three stages starting April 5^th and finishing May 15th, 2012. The winners are to be awarded prizes, certificates and diplomas not only from the KBTU, but also from the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University - the inspiring leader of this International Internet-Olympiad.  

      The contestants went through a big challenge of doing a highly complex English test, which involved reading and summarizing an authentic two-page technical English text and translating a passage  from the text into the Russian langauage.

     The names of the top-performing students will be announced on April 5^th 2012 through the KBTU  Intranet facility. April 5^th -6^th, 2012 the top 20 KBTU finalists will get registered electronically for the International Technical English Olympiad.

     The English language department and the dean’s office of the General Education faculty send their warmest greetings to the participants and wish them success in the Olympiad!
